Austin Dillon followed up his dynamite win at the Daytona 500 with a 14th place finish in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway last week. Austin was happy with the team’s in-race performance despite not having the fastest car at the track.
“We didn’t have the best car today, but we did a good job on execution,” Dillon said. “We played around with pit strategy and then took the wave-around for the final restart. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the caution we were hoping for so that we could finish the race on fresh tires. All night, the Dow Racing pit crew had fast stops. They did a great job and I’m proud of them. We plan to give it our all at Las Vegas Motor Speedway next weekend.”
The Richard Childress No. 3 team will take to the track this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube! Austin Dillon briefly discussed what makes the track so unique and how he’s found prior success there.
“The bumps [make it unique]. I feel like it’s pretty bumpy, but also starting to move around quite a bit there. Move up to the top, move back to the bottom and chase that rubber. There is even some grip in the middle of the track sometimes. You can really move around and find speed. I feel like I’ve been very comfortable there since the first time I raced there in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. I won the Vegas race in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in the past, too, so we’ve always liked Vegas. It’s a great location and a great track.”
The Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube will be televised live on Sunday, March 4 at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time on FOX. It will also be broadcast live on the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
